The James Webb Space Telescope recently reached a major milestone in its building process.  The “heart” of the telescope was recently lowered into a test chamber.  The heart of the telescope consists of the Integrated Science Instrument Module which was being tested to ensure the cooling system was working properly.  Check out this great video that shows some of NASA’s amazing cleanrooms!

The heart of the telescope will undergo testing in a giant chamber which is designed to simulate the harsh environment of space.  The equipment in the heart is cooled using helium, and the fourth month test will ensure that the system is working properly.
