Although NASA has been the de facto organization for sending crafts people into space, private industry is quickly advancing in the modern space race. SpaceX has been working with NASA for various cargo missions, as well as launching satellites into space.
Last week, SpaceX had a successful launch of its Falcon 9 rocket. This launch was initially delayed due to weather concerns, but left Earth this past Tuesday. Space X’s continued success is showing a move from federally funded space projects to corporate ones.
This past launch contained a satellite that weighed upwards of 3 tons that will serve the telecommunications industry. You can see a video of the launch below:
