NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center recently received a major component of the James Webb Space Telescope.  Inside one of NASA’s cleanrooms is the Near Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) which will use infrared light for the analysis of distant galaxies.  The NIRSpec will use the infrared technology to look at the physical properties and chemical compositions of these far away galaxies.



In the photo above, you can see cleanroom technicians using a crane to remove the protective covering from the NIRSpec.  Like all NASA projects going into space, the cleanroom environment helps protect the equipment and keeps it from becoming contaminated.
