self-driving-swarmie-robots

NASA is continually developing ways for us to explore our neighboring planets, and that task might be accomplished by robots in the future.  These new robots are much smaller than the robots we’ve used to explore Mars and come with a new secret weapons.

Comparable to the size of a remote controlled car, the robots will all work together as a group, and they will all be equipped with a WIFI antenna, webcam, and GPS systems.  Much in the same way ants work together to find food, the robots will work together and communicate with each other which has earned them the nickname “swarmies.”

Many of these robots are suited for different tasks (mining, digging, covering land, etc.) and all work together.  Right now the robots are still in the basic testing phases, but they show a lot of potential and could make exploration of our planetary neighbors a much more efficient process.
