NASA recently lost astronaut Scott Carpenter who is most famous for his mission aboard the Aurora 7.  This mission was during the early days of NASA, and this mission is quite a harrowing tale.  Check out this great informative video that details this mission.

Carpenter passed away at the age of 88 after suffering a recent stroke.  Charles Bolden, NASA administrator, had this to say about Carpenter:

“His accomplishments truly helped our nation progress in space from the earliest days to the world leadership we enjoy today,” Bolden said. “We will miss his passion, his talent and his lifelong commitment to exploration.”

Scott Carpenter will be missed, and we thank him for his service to this country.
