The Baltimore Sun recently took trip one of the world’s most amazing clean rooms at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.  As to be expected, this visit required some serious cleanliness procedures.  In addition to the mandatory reading of the 37- page contamination guide, there are also several layers of protective clothing that must be worn before entering the clean room.

The Goddard clean room is currently focused on the Webb telescope, and even though it won’t be launching for years, there is much planning that needs to be done ahead of time.  Parts for the telescope will be coming from all over the globe, and eventually the telescope will launch from French Guiana.

Check out this short video on the Baltimore Sun’s visit inside the clean room.
